HIGHLIGHTS:

It was apprehended that the Pulses sowing in India will decline due to the miseries faced by the farmers, but as of now the sowing is set to increase by about 23 percent year on year. The south west monsoon was the main factor in increasing the Pulses acreage in the country. It is estimated that about 4.41 million hectares was under cultivation during the start of July when compared to 3.59 million hectares in the previous year. The overall Kharif sowing in India was seen at 40.4 million hectares, which increased by 9 percent from 37.12 million hectares. Paddy acreage in India was also seen to increase by about 6 percent. Kharif sowing in the country usually begins with the start of south west monsoon and gathers pace from July. Paddy, Tur, Moong, Urad, Soybean, Sunflower seed and Cotton are the main crops planted. Coarse Cereal acreage was seen to increase to 8.08 million hectares from 7.01 million hectares.
